FAR EAST

The Japanese inspired, yellow Raku pottery vase exudes modern sophistication and luxury.  This work of art is as “light as a feather” and very difficult to make.

The black pattern element was actual horse-hair placed on the vase while it was in an intense heat condition creating a unique design effect as if the pattern is lifted from the vase’s surface. 

The vase has a voluminous, rounded body that tapers to a narrow neck with a slightly flared rim. Its form is reminiscent of a gourd or a large droplet, with a full, asymmetrical belly that creates a sense of organic flow.

The vase features a striking two-tone coloration. One side is a warm, golden yellow that transitions into a pale, creamy white on the other side.
